Holy men - Holy women
Who do we mean?
Inspirational leaders of humanity: as well as Jesus, for example, the Dalai Lama, Bede Griffiths, Basil Hume, Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu, Gandhi.

What do we need to provide?
We need to provide in the Church an opportunity for Space and time to reflect ('sanctuary') and pray. We need to provide literature which gives voice to the inspiring leaders of humanity. We need to speak about them too.This could be achieved by re-fitting the former shop space as a chapel for private prayer and study, and small group meetings. For me, a holy person is
some-one in whose presence I feel a calm that enables me to sense my
own spirituality. This may be in the form of a physical presence or
through hearing or reading or about some-one. Somewhere the depth of
his or her own spiritual being pervades mine and brings me to God. The
humility of Mother Theresa; the vision and patience of Nelson Mandela,
who stands by his beliefs; Jefferson’s peaceful praying voice; Eric
Norris and Ken Shackell; Barry replenishes our own spiritual beings;
Giles’ hands in blessing; children – Mark, a little boy with cancer;
Daniel, who is alive and giving, sharing; Jennifer whose active
stillness brings me nearer to God. S&IP
